Does this sound like you?
Does This Sound Like Your Inner Voice?
Many men silently live with these thoughts every day without talking about them.

I never remove my shirt at the beach.
Months in the gym, no change.
I always wear loose T-shirts.
I cross my arms instinctively.
My nipples show through my shirt.
Lost weight, chest still there.
I avoid changing around others.
If several of these thoughts feel familiar, you’re not alone. Many men experience the same concerns. The next step is understanding what is actually causing your chest enlargement.
Interactive Assessment

Fat or Gland?
Understanding what is causing your chest enlargement
Not every enlarged male chest is the same. Knowing the difference helps determine the most appropriate treatment.
Mostly Fat
- Usually feels soft
- Often associated with weight gain
- May improve with diet and exercise
- Liposuction may be considered if fullness remains
Mostly Gland
- Firm rubbery disc beneath the nipple
- Often causes puffy nipples
- Usually persists despite exercise
- Surgical gland removal commonly required
Combination
- The most common pattern
- Both gland and fat contribute
- Treatment often combines liposuction with excision
- Creates a flatter, more natural contour
During your consultation, we assess:
Gynecomastia Grades
Every chest is different
Tap a grade to see it. Educational only.
- Looks like
- Small swelling under the nipple only
- Skin
- No excess skin
- Approach
- Gland excision through a small areolar incision
- Recovery
- Desk work 2–3 days · gym 3–4 weeks
Educational only. Grade cannot be determined from photographs alone — a physical examination is essential.
Candidacy
Am I a candidate for gynecomastia surgery?
Not everyone with an enlarged male chest requires surgery. Dr. Charan evaluates the underlying cause, your health, and your goals before recommending the most appropriate treatment.
You may be a suitable candidate if:
- Your chest enlargement has remained despite exercise or weight loss
- You have firm tissue beneath the nipple or puffy nipples
- Your weight has been relatively stable
- You are in good general health
- You have realistic expectations about surgery
- The appearance of your chest affects your confidence
Surgery may not be the first recommendation if:
- The enlargement is recent and may resolve naturally
- There is an untreated hormonal or medical condition
- You have a suspicious breast lump that requires evaluation
- Significant weight loss is still planned
Quick self-check: Press gently on the area directly beneath your nipple. If you feel a firm, rubbery disc — this is likely glandular tissue. If it feels soft and uniform — it may be excess fat. Both can be assessed during your consultation.

Patient experiences
What our patients say
Shared anonymously with consent. Individual experiences and results vary.
“I hid my chest for almost eight years. What surprised me most was how normal the consultation felt — no judgement, no awkwardness, just a clear explanation of what was going on. Three months on, I wear fitted shirts without thinking about it.”
“I'd tried the gym, the diets, everything. Dr. Charan was the first person who explained why the firm tissue under my nipple was never going to shift. The surgery itself was far easier than I'd built it up to be in my head.”
“The team were completely discreet from the first message to the last follow-up. Recovery was straightforward — back at my desk in a week, and the swelling settled far quicker than I expected.”
“What I appreciated was the honesty. I was told exactly what was realistic for my grade and skin quality, with no overselling. The result looks natural — nobody can tell I've had anything done, they just notice I stand differently.”
